Hatteras Village is located across Pamlico Sound 25 miles from the North Carolina mainland to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east of our Cabana which accepts you to savor the remoteness of Hatteras Island and Hatteras Village. The National Park Service maintains the adjacent beach which is part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This is the only beach in the Carolinas where you can appreciate the warmth and romance of a fire on the beach. Sound side kayaking is conveniently accessible with a county put-in at the Hatteras Island Ocean Center less than a quarter mile down the road. Or enjoy ocean kayaking just a few steps away past the sand dune. Free downloadable NPS Beach Fire Permit is available online from the National Park Service website.

Strategies to get the perfect Hatteras rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Hatteras area:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cabana—Hatteras National Seashore has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Hatteras destination you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
