Hatteras Village is located across Pamlico Sound 25 miles from the North Carolina mainland to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east of our Cabana which accepts you to appreciate the remoteness of Hatteras Island and Hatteras Village. The National Park Service maintains the adjacent beach which is part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This is the only beach in the Carolinas where you can savor the warmth and romance of a fire on the beach. Sound side kayaking is comfortably accessible with a county put-in at the Hatteras Island Ocean Center less than a quarter mile down the road. Or enjoy ocean kayaking just a few steps away past the sand dune. Free downloadable NPS Beach Fire Permit is available online from the National Park Service website.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hatteras rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental in Hatteras:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Cabana—Hatteras National Seashore has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
