Getting the best rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Avon. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect rental in Avon:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. public path from Avon Kinnakeet Shores 4Br-4 Masters\nNEW pickleball tennis area has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
