An added advantage, in addition to the adjacent public dune crossing to the beach, is that it is located near the southern tip of Avon, which is peaceful, but close to shopping, kiteboarding/windsurfing, ocean/dune crossovers for cars and soundside haul-over area.

Getting the best value:

• Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
• In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
