Build a striking resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles, because Buxton’s unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is an enchanting four-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths. The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

THINGS TO KNOW

Guests will have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in e-mail and during the check-in process. The club is typically open from mid-May to mid-October depending on weather.

  • June, July, and August are high season in Buxton. To book the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance.   • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback.
