Build a handsome resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest condos to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles, because Buxton’s unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor, cooled by pleasant central air conditioning. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

THINGS TO KNOW
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your e-mail. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically.
The shared pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting. It is subject to close without notice.
Guests will have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in e-mail and during the check-in process. The club is typically open from mid-May to mid-October depending on weather.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the nightly pet fee is already supplied in your quote when selecting "Yes" to family pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The nightly fee ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

About the Area

Located in Buxton, this vacation home is in a rural area and near the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Lighthouse Beach, while Studio 12 and Kinnakeet Clay Works are cultural highlights. Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf and Buxton Seafood are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Getting the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hatteras area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses.   • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review.
