Tips and Tricks to get the best Buxton vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Hatteras rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Buxton Woods Bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
