SEMI-OCEANFRONT Rodanthe — Blue Sea Rd. — New for 2024! — Finding that jewel of a vacation hideaway takes patience, but when you come upon EMERALD POINT, the effort is well worth it. With the Mirlo Beach boardwalk access next to the home, you are steps away from the Atlantic ocean as well as the Pamlico Sound within walking distance and provides a stunningly serene backdrop, it’s clear that this home is a true treasure.

As soon as you pull up to this seven-bedroom/five- and two-half-bath beauty, you’ll feel yourself melt into the calming surroundings. Let the ocean waves lull you into a good nap next to the heated saltwater pool or as you appreciate a relaxing soak in the 6-person hot tub. A gas grille and a poolside bar you can stock with your favorite refreshments make it simple to quench both hunger and thirst without having to venture inside. But when you do, there’s a kitchenette and game room on the first level, featuring arcade and board games, puzzles, a card table, and DVD library. The laundry room is also located on this level as are two of the home’s bedrooms: a room with a double bed and one with two single beds that share a full hallway bath.

Getting the most from your budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers.   • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
