SOUNDFRONT Rodanthe — SUNSET COVE provides you with that idyllic slice of private beachfront that delivers the treasured tranquility you seek. With vistas that go on forever, this impressive eight bedroom/eight- and two-half-bath 4,248 sq. ft. home is thoughtfully designed to address both those real and intangible needs. The breadth of this home and the span of emotions are intrinsically linked.

Families with kids will especially adore the sound’s gentle waters or the option to swim and play in a private soundfront pool. Adult indulgences include a six-person hot tub and a poolside tiki bar. There’s a convenient half-bath and steps to access the first level deck. Just inside, it’s “game on” in the recreation room, whether you’re cuing up at the pool table or watching your favorite team on the huge screen TV. No need to miss any of the action ... a kitchenette is here for your convenience. When it’s time to relax again, settle into the media room’s theater seating, lower the lights, and get reeled in by some movie magic. Two of the home’s bedrooms, a king master and a pyramid bunkroom are also located on this level.

Take the all-floor elevator to the second level and discover three more king masters, all with private baths, and one king bedroom. Two of these rooms have private access to the soundfront deck and one has access to an east-facing deck. A sound-facing den/office offers the peaceful space and inspirational vistas that make a working vacation less about work and more about accomplishment. Laundry facilities are also located on this level.

The last two king master bedrooms are located on the top level, each with private baths and front or back deck access. The rest of this space is dedicated to appreciating each other’s company as you whip up meals in the thoughtfully equipped kitchen, savor your morning coffee at the breakfast bar or lounge about in the cavernous living room as the day winds down. If the action from the flat-screen TV doesn’t capture your attention, simply look outside from one of the many windows and find inspiration in impossibly beautiful vistas, particularly at sunset when the sky reveals a kaleidoscope of colors.

*Please note that this property has a pool that can be heated for $600. Pool heaters, when pool heat is purchased, are set to 80 degrees, but pool temperature cannot be guaranteed.

Vacation Rental Protection Plan: This required non-returnable $95 plan covers accidental damage within the home with a coverage limit of $3,000. It does not cover theft or willful misconduct. You must notify Surf or Sound Realty of any damage that occurs during your occupancy or this coverage will be void. Coverage is effective at time of check-in and ends at time of check-out.

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Rodanthe. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
