Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Luxury sound-front home with private pool, hot tub, & dock has 8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
