How to get the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Book your Hatteras rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best vacation rental in Avon:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 1-acre waterfront oasis with pool, hot tubs & sunrise\/set views - dog-friendly has 12 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
