Tricks and tips for getting the best Avon rental experience:

When to visit Avon & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the best Hatteras vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Guest House, Hot Tub & Spacious Decks has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
